Every Woman Southeast is working with community groups in our region to explore the experiences of women and their communities, especially as they relate to reproductive health. In addition to the more conventional research conducted via the EWSE Women’s Voices Survey, we wanted to explore other forms of documenting women’s lives and experiences, such as through photovoice.
Photovoice is a qualitative methodology that uses photographs and accompanying narratives to explore the experiences and concerns of a particular community and helps create a platform for action. In our latest photovoice project with North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, the Preconception Peer Educators of the Cradle Me 3 initiative explored barriers and facilitators to reproductive life planning in their lives and communities. Please check out their photos and narratives – you can look at them by theme or view the entire collection.
